Toowoomba Show 2027

Get show-ready ladies and turn heads at the 2027 Toowoomba Show! Plan ahead - find dates, ticket info, and everything you need to know before you go.

Last updated: June 2026

The Toowoomba Royal Show is one of Queensland's most beloved annual events — a three-day celebration of agriculture, entertainment, community and country life that has been a fixture on the Darling Downs calendar since 1860.

Whether you're a lifelong local or planning your first visit, this guide covers everything you need to know: dates, tickets, the show holiday, what to expect on the schedule, the rides, and yes — how to look your absolute best while you're there.

Toowoomba Show Dates

The 162nd People First Bank Toowoomba Royal Show will be held Thursday 15 April to Saturday 17 April 2027, at the Toowoomba Showgrounds, Glenvale Road, Toowoomba.

The show runs across three days:

  • Thursday 15 April 2027 — Super Saver Day. Discounted entry all day, and free entry after 6pm. A great option for families who want to see the show without the full-price weekend crowds.

  • Friday 16 April 2027 — Show Public Holiday. The official Toowoomba Show Holiday. Expect full entertainment, the night show, fireworks and the bull ride.

  • Saturday 17 April 2027 — Grand Final Day. The biggest day of the show, featuring the full entertainment lineup, competition presentations, the night show and fireworks.

Opening Hours

Gates open at 9am each day and the grounds trade through to approximately 9pm on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Always confirm current dates and gate times at toowoombashow.com.au closer to the event, as details are updated annually.

Public Holiday

The Toowoomba Show Holiday is an officially gazetted regional public holiday under Queensland's Holidays Act 1983. It applies to employees working within the Toowoomba Regional Council area (excluding the Yarraman, Upper Yarraman and Cooyar areas, which observe the Ekka public holiday instead).

Unlike the Ekka public holiday, which applies to Brisbane, the Toowoomba Show Holiday is specific to the Toowoomba region — it's our own day off to celebrate our own show.

The holiday falls on the Friday of show week, coinciding with the official opening ceremony and the first full night show of the event.

The Toowoomba Show Holiday 2027 is expected to fall on Friday 16 April 2027, based on the confirmed show dates of 15–17 April 2027.

Note: Show public holidays in Queensland are officially gazetted annually by the Queensland Government, typically in early February. The 2027 date will be confirmed at qld.gov.au/recreation/travel/holidays/show once proclaimed. Based on the 2026 pattern (where the show holiday fell on Friday 27 March, the middle day of a 26–28 March show), the Friday of show week is the expected public holiday day.

Who Gets the Toowoomba Show Holiday?

The show holiday applies to workers based in the Toowoomba region. Under Queensland's employment legislation, your entitlement to a show public holiday is based on where you work, not where you live. Employees working outside the Toowoomba Regional Council area on that day are not automatically entitled to the holiday.

Toowoomba Show Schedule

The Toowoomba Royal Show runs a packed three-day program across multiple stages and precincts. While the full 2027 schedule will be published on the official website ahead of the event, the show traditionally features the following structure:

Thursday is officially the family day — lower-cost entry, daytime entertainment across all stages, animal nursery, agricultural displays, sideshow alley, and a night show including fireworks.

Friday (the show holiday) is the biggest day for daytime crowds, with the official opening ceremony at 5pm, the full night show program, bull ride, freestyle motocross, and the fireworks and laser show to close the evening.

Saturday brings the grand finale atmosphere — final competition presentations including the Rural Ambassador Awards and Darling Downs Showgirl Presentation, the complete night show lineup and another fireworks display.

Entertainment staples across recent shows have included:

  • Sideshow Alley — the full suite of fairground rides running across all three days

  • Fireworks and laser show — Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights (a show tradition)

  • Freestyle motocross — Airtime Freestyle Motocross Team performing evening sessions

  • Woodchopping — axemen competing for State and World titles

  • Bull ride — Friday and Saturday evenings, ringside seating recommended

  • Animal nursery — hands-on animal experiences for all ages

  • Agricultural competitions — livestock, horticulture, pavilion exhibits, photography, leatherwork and more

  • Working dairy — live milking demonstrations

  • Sheepdog trials — live mustering dog competitions

  • Jetpack and jet ski action show — performed on the Showgrounds Lake

  • Hot Wheels Stuntz Show — Friday and Saturday evenings

  • QCWA Country Kitchens — demonstrations and tastings

  • Fashion parade — Western and lifestyle fashion from Ringers Western

  • Live music — Main stage performances Friday and Saturday evenings

The full 2027 entertainment schedule will be published at toowoombashow.com.au/royal-show/entertainment ahead of the event. Check back regularly as new acts are confirmed.

Are There Rides at the Toowoomba Show?

Yes — Sideshow Alley is one of the most popular features of the Toowoomba Royal Show, running across all three days from when gates open through to the evening. Expect a full lineup of carnival rides suitable for all ages, from kid-friendly attractions through to the bigger thrill rides.

Cash and card are both accepted at ride operators. There are also two ATMs on the showgrounds if you need cash.

Are There Fireworks at the Toowoomba Show?

Yes! Fireworks are one of the great traditions of the Toowoomba Royal Show. The fireworks and laser show runs on all three nights — Thursday, Friday and Saturday — and is included with gate entry. No extra ticket is required.

The display lights up the sky over the showgrounds, typically as the headline event closing the night show program. It's a spectacular way to end the evening, and one of those moments that never gets old regardless of how many times you've been to the show.

Getting There — Practical Information
